Brand Story
The drive for creating the company was that the founder Masao Yamai, wanted to utilize his expertise in mountaineering and mountain skiing, which he has been passionate about since childhood. Alongside the product development knowledge he had cultivated in his previous job, Masao Yamai seeked out to create easy-to-use and durable mountaineering products using the excellent metal processing technology of the Tsubame-Sanjo area. In 1999, belmont Inc. was established in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, and the brand was launched.
At the time of its establishment, the company developed locally specialized fishing equipment (For instance scissors, needle-nose pliers, rakes, pole stands.) and distributed them nationwide. In 2002, three years after its founding, the company began selling its long-awaited outdoor products (For instance, titanium cookers, Sierra cups, 6- and 4-claw light crampons, and Japanese kettles.). Since then, we have released a variety of fishing gear and outdoor products while incorporating user feedback. Even today, about 90% of outdoor products are “MADE IN JAPAN”, made using cutting-edge processing technology at local factories in the Tsubame-Sanjo area. Belmontism has been passed down since our founding, with the motto of creating products that are lightweight, yet still have excellent durability and storage capacity, products with original ideas not found in other companies, and above all, products that are easy to use and long-lasting.
